Praha is spectacular

Visited Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge. Got lost in the streets surrounding the square.
Watched the astronomical clock tick off 6.
Wandered around Žižkov. Stumbled upon a study hall/combination hip hop & rap mashup club/illegal hash bar/community center/net cafe/pub.
Walked up to Pražský hrad. Got lost in the streets surrounding it.
Hiked up Petrin Hill. Browsed the gardens on top.
Ate Czech food and enjoyed it. Drank Czech beer (both the standards and some small batch brews) and loved it.
Spent an afternoon in a hidden Literary Club and Kaverna.
Attempted (some) Czech. Attempted (some) German. Found that English worked for almost everything.

It’s beautiful and bizarre, and I definitely recommend a visit. Photos on Flickr

Barcelona is beautiful

Wandered down La Rambla.
Browsed La Boqueria.
Watched the finish line for El Corte Inglés.
Got lost in the old Roman Quarter (several times).
Strolled around some of Gaudi’s work.
Watched the world go by on Passeig del Born.
Attempted Catalonian. Attempted Castilian, then Mexican Spanish; reverted to English.
Ate lunch for two hours. Ate dinner standing and paid by the toothpick.
Made friends with tourists. Made friends with locals.

It’s fantastic, I highly recommend a visit. Photos on Flickr

ES came out and visited for a week, followed by SS for a week. I have visited an amazing number of museums, pubs, parks, and sites. Scott has a good roundup of his trip here. I finally posted more pictures to Flickr as well.

A wonderful British phrase, but with a slightly gruesome background.

A knacker is a person in the trade of rendering animals that are unfit for human consumption, such as work horses that have died in harness or are too tired to work any more.
